FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT AGES DO YOU SEE AT YOUR CLINIC?

Our clinic specializes in children between birth and school age. Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health is currently accepting referrals for children under the age of six. School-aged referrals for this service may be accepted depending on current caseload demands. Please contact the clinic for further details. Due to waitlist and caseload demands, OT and SLP are currently accepting referrals for children four years old and under ONLY.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Our services usually begin with an informal, play-based appointment to allow us to get to know your child and engage them in playful activities.  The therapists pull from a wide variety of activities in order to meet the child where they are at developmentally.  Through this process, information will be gathered about the child’s functional skills including attention, regulation, sensory processing, social responses, coordination, balance, preferences, ideation, problem solving, speech development, expressive communication, receptive communication, and play. The initial appointment is designed to be both fun and to provide the therapists with the baseline information upon which to build a clinical pathway.

We also offer a variety of more comprehensive assessment options at varying rates depending upon the number of clinicians and the type of assessment request. Please contact us for a free phone consultation to determine where to start!

Follow-up intervention sessions are play-based using developmentally appropriate activities to challenge the child’s developmental skills.

HOW CAN I REFER MY CHILD? DO I NEED A DOCTOR'S REFERRAL?

We accept direct referrals from parents or guardians and/or referrals from other agencies with parent consent.
*Note: Please check with your extended health benefit plan for reimbursement requirements, as some plans require a physician's referral.
